Hunter Valley Resort

At the gateway to the Hunter Valley winery district, this site offers a golden opportunity to deliver a landmark architectural and tourism response that provides much-needed diversity for the Lower Hunter Valley.

The competition and project briefs call for site master planning and a design vision for its guests and residential precincts. Specifically, we are to “develop an understanding of the planning and environmental constraints on the site and the approved concept plan, but then return to first principles to reimagine the development from the ground up”. Key themes from the brief include luxury, interdependence, innovation and connectivity with a focus on ideas as well as outcomes.

Among other things, the objective is to create a strong sense of identity and connection to the landscape for the residential precinct, while the master plan for the guest precinct should feel unique and special. This will be achieved through interdependent tourism and residential offers, along with a range of other visitor drawcards, designed to generate a strong return on investment.
